Your Kingdom - Arc 1 Chapter 9.3
“Of course, there’s also the option to stay here…You are the one to choose.”
His large black eyes were wavering with worry as he stared at Fernand.
–What are you worried about? Why don’t you reply immediately that you want to stay here?
The Prince’s country was ruined. He couldn’t go back to the dead kingdom now. Therefore, it was easy to make the Prince, a delicate, simple boy ignorant of the ways of the world, stay here.
But still, Fernand wanted the Prince to choose.
“How is it? What do you think?”
The Prince untangled Fernand’s arms and walked to the window. The sky was colored in deep purple, and a great number of little stars were starting to twinkle.
“You know, before I came here, I have never seen a sky so big…When I was staying in my kingdom, I could only see three stars, at most four stars from the windows in my room.”
The Prince’s voice was trembling and hoarse.
“I miss that window very much…”
“Such a foolish reason!”
The Prince looked back in surprise hearing Fernand’s emotional voice, the voice was so unlike himself.
“Please forget such a window. A small, insignificant window like that…”
“It’s, it’s not insignificant!”
The Prince frowned and yelled. Both of his clenched fists were shaking.
“It is not insignificant…indeed it is just a small window, but, but for me…”
His frowning face rapidly scrunched up, then tears were overflowing from his large eyes.
“For, for me…it was a very important window…”
Fernand rushed over to the Prince who sat lifelessly beside the window, then embraced his slender and delicate frame.
“I, wanted, to go outside…I wanted to try walking under the bright sky…I don’t want to be in dark places anymore, not anymore…”
Fernand put his arms around the Prince’s back, touching his little wings, they were trembling as if withering.
“Please stay in this kingdom, Prince. I will protect you.”
As he loosened his arms gently, the Prince raised his disheveled teary face. Fernand earnestly felt that his face is the loveliest in this world.
–If you show me a face like this, I can’t pretend to be composed anymore…!
Fernand once again showed a smile that covered his whole face, a smile that was so unlike himself.
“Yes, because you are my dearest prince.”
“But, the king of this kingdom…Will he allow me to stay here?”
The Prince muttered anxiously. Fernand recalled his brother’s face, then he gently caressed the Prince’s lustrous black hair as he snickered.
“It’s alright, I will ask the royal prince here.”
“The royal prince?”
“Yes. The king’s younger brother, who has equal position as the king. We are old friends, so please feel at ease because he is a sensible person.”
Even though he explained like that, it wasn’t like he’s going to request a favor from the king. Looking back at himself who did things as he pleased like usual, he could only snicker. But the Prince’s large eyes grew even larger, as if he was deeply moved.
“Then, can I really stay here? It is okay for me to stay here?”
Fernand had reached his limit. Even the fact that he can control himself to this point was worthy of a praise. He grabbed up the Prince’s chin, and fiercely snatched his slightly opened lips.
Fernand was even more stirred up by the Prince who was unable to breathe and moaned awkwardly. He lifted the Prince up without breaking the kiss, afterwards when he tried to push him down to a nearby couch, the Prince tapped Fernand’s arms as if in a hurry.
As soon as their lips parted, the Prince pointed his index finger towards the window. When Fernand looked over his shoulder with the Prince in his arms, a white strip shone faintly in the dark night sky.
“It’s a shooting star…It’s my first time seeing a shooting star…”
The Prince was moved and started weeping again. Fernand was taken aback momentarily, but he suddenly remembered the Prince’s situation until now, and gave the Prince a naturally gentle smile.
“Was it pretty?”
“Yes…I hope you can see the next one properly.”
Fernand’s heart was filled by a sweet, tingly feeling as he heard the softly whispered words. Because he had seen shooting stars on countless occasions, at this point of time, they were not rare things anymore. However…
–the Prince wished for me.
Certainly he would be very moved when he saw the next shooting star…Fernand smiled quietly.
