Chapter 8 He Doesn’t Have A Wife But He Has A Mirror
Outside the office, Song ShuJing and company worriedly rushed towards Feng Chi’s office. As a result, when they raised their heads, they saw Feng Chi leaning against the door frame while his (FC’s) gaze from beginning to end stayed staring inside his (FC’s) office.
Zhuo Guang quietly walked towards Feng Chi’s back and followed Feng Chi’s line of sight to look inside.
It was that demon-revealing mirror again.
Zhuo Guang was immediately enlightened.
He’s afraid that the sign of activity earlier was the demon-revealing mirror. He (ZG) moved back to his original position and then silently said: “Boss, right now you look like a perverted peeping tom.”
Feng Chi: “……”
Zhuo Guang indeed does not know how to speak.
Feng Chi expressionlessly glanced at him. It was now Zhuo Guang’s turn to awkwardly laugh. He scratched his head as he turned around, hahahaing: “Aiya, how could there be a thief in Boss’s office. Who is it that doesn’t want to live? I reckon that it was something that had fallen on the floor. It’s better if Boss checks it out himself, as to avoid Boss getting angry.”
After that, he ran as if scared witless.
Song ShuJing and the two brothers from the Shi family stood in place as they watched Zhuo Guang. They then looked at Feng Chi and decided to turn around and leave as well. As they were leaving, Shi Ying moved closer to his older brother and apprehensively whispered: “Ge, do you feel that Boss pays particular attention to that mirror? In fact, it’s not a special treasure; it just can reflect us demons’ original forms, nothing more.”
Shi Jiu pushed away the head that had moved closer and thought: How do you know it is not a treasure? You had only glanced at it while Boss has been in contact with it all day and night. Can’t say for sure, but Boss might just discover something interesting about it.
The clamor near Feng Chi’s ears faded as they left. He hesitated for a moment before pushing open the door to walk in. The small mirror had very obediently framed itself on the mirror stand. When Feng Chi glanced over, the small black dot’s face was full of obedience and it was very quiet.
If he didn’t know what this fellow was usually like, Feng Chi most likely would’ve actually been deceived by him.
Feng Chi collected his gaze yet the space his eyebrows were wrinkled. He reached out his hand and touched the side of the mirror. When the small back dot sucked in a breath of cold air from his (FC’s) actions, he (FC) unhurriedly took out a wet tissue from the drawer.
Falling down from the window sill and then rolling around in a few circles around the office’s ground, it was dirty.
Ji Huan was rubbed all over with the wet tissue until his whole body felt damp. He (JH) really wanted to kick Feng Chi to make him (FC) stop. Before, he (JH) didn’t say anything when a small toothbrush was used but today, a wet tissue was used to wipe his body. He almost groaned from his (FC’s) actions.
He (JH) pursed his lips, not daring to move. He held himself back so much that the corner of his eyes reddened, looking even more pitiful.
However, Feng Chi only indifferently glanced at him and then threw the wet tissue into the wastepaper basket* before leaving.
*tled literally is paper basket (纸篓) w/o the waste (废) in front but like wastepaper basket is what it is
At this moment, the Feng Chi in Ji Huan’s heart was unfeeling, like an unsympathetic scumbag.
Not long after receiving Song ShuJing’s call, Guo Sheng appeared in front of the Demon Control Bureau’s doorway. Inch by inch, his gaze scanned passed the particular severally damaged small restaurant and teahouse. After noticing the massive footprints on the ground, he swallowed down some saliva.
Before coming, he had already checked (the prison), Tao Wu had disappeared.
Guo Sheng didn’t dare tarry and without delay, opened the Demon Control Bureau’s door and walked in. Just as he entered, he was welcomed by Song ShuJing: “Group Leader Guo, we meet again. Today you finally didn’t bring a pain in the neck person with you.”
The corners of Guo Sheng’s mouth were stretched taut and his face was solemn, “Let’s not talk about this trivial matter, is your boss still doing okay?”
Hearing what was said, the corner of Shi Ying’s mouth revealed a smile, “He was just smiling as he stared at a certain object in his office.”
“Smiling?” Guo Sheng was at loss, “You sure it was a smile and not a sneer?”
Zhuo Guang went ‘aiya’ and moved closer to drape an arm around Guo Sheng’s shoulder before whispering into his (GS’s) ear, “Let me tell you Group Leader Guo. Recently, our boss has stirrings of love. Smiling just from looking at a mirror. I’m not joking with you.”
Stirrings. Of. Love!?
Guo Sheng breathed in a breath of air and frantically glanced at Zhuo Guang for confirmation: You sure?
Zhuo nodded and then patted his* chest, “So, go.”
*idk whose chest author is referring but maybe it’s GS so it’s like: *pats GS’s chest* bro, you got this
With a ‘since Feng Chi’s is in a good mood, I’ll be okay’ beautiful wish, Guo Sheng entered Feng Chi’s office. Outside the office, Shi Jiu raised his eyes, sneered while saying, “You guys really dare to dupe him.”
In any case, he was still a branch office’s group leader.
Zhuo Guang shrugged, “I’m just telling it as it is. Boss indeed looks like he has stirrings of love. However, whether his (FC’s) heart will still flutter after he sees Group Leader Guo, that’s something I don’t know.”
Feng Chi had circled once around the small restaurant before coming back. Ji Huan supported his chin with his hands as he watched him (FC) write something with lowered eyes. There’s a saying, serious men were the handsomest. Feng Chi originally had outstanding looks and right now, he looked even more outstanding.
As Ji Huan was sighing with emotion, the door was pushed open. He subconsciously turned around to take a look. However, he had just turned when he came to a halt.
Oh, he was framed.
Feng Chi watched as the small black dot pitifully and grievously turned its head back and then going ‘hmph’ two times: “So annoying.”
The corner of Feng Chi’s mouth overflowed with a shadow of a smile
Feng Chi raised his head to look over. Guo Sheng sucked in a breath of cold air as he covered his fingers that had been jammed by the door. He hissed from the pain. While soothing his fingers that hurt so much that he almost showed the whites of his eyes, he thought that Zhuo Guang really didn’t lie to him. Feng Chi could actually smile while looking at a mirror?
Smile while looking at the mirror?
What, was it that he was hit by his own handsomeness in the mirror?
He (GS) covered his hands and smiled while grimacing in pain: “Feng Chi, what are you doing, smiling like a flower.”
After those words were said, Feng Chi pursed his lips and indifferently looked at him (GS); not replying at all, only asking with a flat tone: “How did Tao Wu escape?”
Straight to the point.
Although Feng Chi was usually often cold faced, Guo Sheng could keenly perceive that the current expression of Feng Chi’s was more frightening than usual.
The matter of Tao Wu escaping was something he really didn’t know. If it wasn’t for Song ShuJing calling him, he would’ve still naively believed that Tao Wu was still properly imprisoned.
Guo Sheng revealed an awkward smile and silently put his swollen hand into his pant’s pocket. In a low voice he said, “I, I also don’t know. Without rhyme or reason, he ran away.”
Feng Chi tsked, “Then why are you still here?”
Guo Sheng: “………………”
Who the hell was it that told him that Feng Chi had stirrings of love and is in a good mood.
Can’t they f*ing see that this one sentence can verbally attack a monster to death until it can’t be seen anymore!
The corners of Guo Sheng’s mouth twitched as he turned around to leave. Yet when he walked out the door, he was once again called to a stop by Feng Chi.
Feng Chi: “If Tao Wu is not found today, in the future, don’t come back at all.”
Guo Sheng: “……………………”
With a drooping head, Guo Sheng left the Demon Control Bureau. Zhuo Guang looked at his (GS’s) desolate back view and tsked two times as he (ZG) shook his head. Immediately afterward, he (ZG) pushed open the door to Feng Chi’s office and popped his head in: “Boss, we discovered Tao Wu’s tracks.”
Feng Chi: “Then go look (for him).”
Zhuo Guang went ‘heihei’, “Tao Wu recently appeared at YeYu Lake*. We’re afraid that he has changed into a human to blend in with the tourists so…….Boss, why don’t you let us borrow your demon-revealing mirror for a bit?”
*YeYu Lake – 掖玉湖. 掖 – assist, tuck (into pocket), support by arm. 玉 – jade. 湖 – lake. There is actually a lake called YuYe Lake [玉液湖(液 – fluid, liquid, juice)] in YunNan, China.
YeYu Lake was a famous attraction spot over here and whenever Spring came, there would be numerous tourists having a picnic by the lake.
What Zhuo Guang said was logical but…….
Feng Chi lowered his head to look at the mirror. The small black dot putifully hugged itself with a face full of fright. Although Ji Huan knew Tao Wu’s name, to him, Tao Wu, this kind of monster, was something that he didn’t even have the faintest image of. If it was similarly frightening as the Jiu Ying brothers from before, Ji Huan felt that he would immediately die from the sight.
He forcefully swallowed some saliva. The gulugulu sound in the quiet office was extremely distinct.
Feng Chi raised his head, “Go by yourself.”
Zhuo Guang covered his face as he ran away while going ‘YingYingYing*’
*sfx for crying
Their boss looked at the demon-revealing mirror as if it was his wife, afraid that other stinky men would kidnap his wife!
Zhuo Guang and company came back two hours later. Feng Chi stood inside the lobby and with furrowed brows, looked at the young man who was handcuffed and brain was swollen like a pig head. Tao Wu’s original appearance was that of a tiger’s face and had boar tusks. Ugly to the point one cannot bear looking straight at him. However, after transforming, one could look at him, albeit with some difficulty. When Zhuo Guang and company found him, he was still striking up a conversation with a human young lady, ate two of the young lady’s aromatic spicy chicken wings and drank a cup of coke.
When his head was pushed down and violently beat up by Guo Sheng who arrived at the last moment, he didn’t forget to protect his own face, but it was of no use. Guo Sheng was angered to death so naturally he would not listen to Tao Wu begging for forgiveness.
Hearing a small sigh near his ears, Feng Chi subconsciously glanced back. Near the door’s seams, the small mirror poked its head out and stealthily looked over here. The small black dot in the mirror revealed a face full of complicated emotions as if the renowned Tao Wu’s looks honestly went against its imagination.
Feng Chi supported his forehead with his hand and his long legs moved to one side a bit so that it would be easier for a certain little fellow to see clearly. With lowered eyes, he asked Tao Wu: “How did you get out?”
Tao Wu vaguely went ‘wuwu’, his face was swollen to the point that he couldn’t even speak clearly.
Feng Chi said to Guo Sheng: “Give him your phone, let him type.”
Guo Sheng, this adult man was so terrified that he was like a quail. He promptly took out his phone and shoved it into Tao Wu’s hands.
Tao Wu knew who Feng Chi was and didn’t dare be rash. He vigorously pushed the keys of the keyboard on the phone.
“Woke up and found the door open so I got out.”
Upon seeing this, the few people simultaneously knit their brows.
“Group Leader Guo, that guard, did [he/she*] drink too much?” asked Zhuo Guang.
*there was no pronoun in the raw but it was needed when i tled this and i didn’t want to assume anything so we’re left with he/she
At this moment, Guo Sheng could not say anything.
Feng Chi continued to aske: “After you got out, why did you come to the Demon Control Bureau?”
Tao Wu continued to type in a very frightened manner: Just wanted to let you guys see some color…….
Who knew that when he came, he couldn’t even enter the entrance of the Demon Control Bureau.
Zhuo Guang: “……”
Guo Sheng: “……”
The corners of Zhuo Guang’s mouth fiercely twitched for a moment, “If you hadn’t come over here to make trouble, we probably wouldn’t have discovered that you had escaped.”
In the end, he had even sent himself over to their door. This TaoWu had been imprisoned for so many years, was it that his mind was also broken along with the imprisonment?
Tao Wu seemed to have also realized that his brain was not so good and listlessly hunched into a ball, not speaking.
Guo Sheng revealed a fawning smile towards Feng Chi, “Feng Chi, you see right now…….how should it be dealt with?”
Feng Chi: “The neighboring Chen bo and the owner of the teahouse, Li bo, are of old age. You two go help run errands.”
Guo Sheng: “?”
Guo Sheng’s eyes widened, and he pointed at his own noise, “Us two? I’m also going?”
With an expressionless face: “You go help Li bo for a week and in passing, help fix the building. As for you…….”
Feng Chi’s line of sight landed on Tao Wu, “Help Chen bo until he doesn’t need you anymore.”
Guo Sheng: “……”
Tao Wu: “……”
When Zhuo Guang was lifted Tao Wu to go out, Tao Wu moved close and indistinctly asked: “Ge, then do I have a wage? I want to eat KFC’s aromatic spicy chicken wings.”
Zhuo Guang: “Work properly. Maybe one day when Boss is in a good mood, he will buy KFC and give it to you.”
Tao Wu’s eyes immediately lit up, “Really?”
Zhuo Guang sneered: “Fake. Boss has money but no place to spend it.”
Tao Wu: “What money could Feng Chi spend? He doesn’t have a wife. That much savings stored is also a waste.”
Zhuo Guang: “He doesn’t have a wife but he has a mirror. He can use the spare money to buy some gaudy corners for the small mirror to change into.”
Tao Wu: “Eeh…….so perverted.”
The author has something to say:
Feng Chi: I’m not, I don’t!
