To Burris The Spellcaster And His Family Dependent - 4
Burris was so scared that he almost choked. He subconsciously started a defensive spell, but the magic failed to stop the other party. The stranger hugged him tightly and gave him a couple of extremely enthusiastic cheek kissing greeting, which made him fall back on the couch.
Having recognized the man, Burris gave up the struggle. He secretly thanked his current body. If he were eighty-four years old, he wouldn’t just break his bones, he would have a concussion just now.
“Venerable Skeleton King, my lord, your disguise is very natural…” After the other party had enough, Burris sat up slowly.
The Skeleton King was very surprised: “What? You recognized me right away? I thought you would scream, ‘who are you?’ in surprise!”
“I didn’t react the moment I saw you, but soon I could notice it.”
“This is not a disguise,” said the Skeleton King. “I have more than one face. Including the gray dragon you saw before, that is also me. It is part of my power. In fact, it has nothing to do with dragons, but I like that form. Now this face is my human appearance. I was like this when you first saw me, don’t you remember?”
Burris thought for a while: “I really didn’t have a good memory when I got older. I remember your general appearance, but I don’t remember the specifics.”
Looking at a 20-year-old face saying these old-fashioned words, the Skeleton King couldn’t help shaking his head and sighing. He sat down on the sofa and pulled Burris up: “There’s something I have to tell you. In fact, I am not called ‘Skeleton King’, that’s the honorific name given to me by ancient scholars. My real name is Roth.”
Burris did not expect to hear such an ordinary name: “Roth? Is this an abbreviation? What is your full name?”
“Rothbart,” the Skeleton King –Rothbart, said. “This is a name I found on the world, and it’s easy to pronounce, so I called myself this. I found out later that it sounded a little sinister, so just call me Roth.”
Burris nodded and looked at him all over: “Fine, Lord Roth. What you are wearing is…?”
Roth also looked down at his clothes: “These clothes were found for me by Her Royal Highness and a golem. It seems to be the clothes of some servant in your tower. The coat can barely be worn, the pants are a bit too short, and the trouser legs are too tight.”
“Yes, it doesn’t fit well.” It’s not just that the trouser legs are tight, the crotch is also tight to a point of shameful degree… Burris sighed inwardly, stood up and walked to the desk.
Seeing the mage sitting down to write, Roth followed him curiously: “What are you writing?”
“I’m writing a letter to Mr. Justin, asking him to prepare some fabrics for each season, and come over when he is ready. He is my personal tailor and lives in Holly Village, northwest of the Forest of No Return.”
After speaking, Burris snapped his fingers and a metal raven flew in from the window. Burris opened the small drawer on its chest and put the letter in. The metal raven seemed to bow to him and flew out again.
“Personal tailor?” Roth raised his eyebrows. “Do you want a construct to deliver letters to the tailor? Are you not afraid to scare the tailor to death? ”
Burris smiled and shook his head: “No. Mr. Justin has a friendship with me. His studio is very famous, not the kind of small mountain village workshop you think. They specialize in tailor-made clothes for the nobles everywhere. The long-term cooperation between me and his family began from his grandfather’s generation.”
Roth was even more curious: “You are a mage, why do you have a long-term relationship with a tailor?”
“They not only make ordinary single piece garments, but also mass produce soft nails, gloves, belts, boots and so on. These things can be just daily necessities, or they can be further processed into magic objects. So, we have a stable cooperation. In the Mountains of No Return, besides my tower, there is a manor. It is a workshop for making magic weapons. There is a group of spellcasters who stay there to enchant all kinds of protective devices and weapons, and make various kinds of magic clothing products with Mr. Justin’s clothes… Our works will be shipped to many places, and the largest order comes from the royal capital of Sago.”
Roth asked: “The Mountains of No Return are your personal property, so this workshop is also yours, right?”
“Hmm, it’s mine.”
“It is unexpected,” Roth looked at the mage with complicated eyes. “That young and cute little mage was already so good back then. I really didn’t trust the wrong person.”
Burris was used to this kind of praise: “You flatter me. I can’t say that I am good. At best, it’s just that I haven’t wasted my time.”
“Are you rich?” Roth asked bluntly.
“Modestly. I have enough money to sustain research needs.”
“Do you have a horse? I want to use it.”
Burris was a little confused. He didn’t know what the Skeleton King who just returned to the world wanted to do…Nevertheless, he opened a drawer, took out a metal tag and handed it to Roth: “There is a stable under the tower, in the courtyard behind. If you want to go out, you can show this to Mr. Jord, the groom. He can take you in a carriage as long as it is not far away. ”
“What if the distance is far?”
“If it’s too far, we usually use the teleportation array…”
Roth took the tag: “Okay. I’ll take a look nearby and try to come back before dinner…Or I’ll come back tomorrow at the latest. I won’t bother the groom; I’ll pick a horse by myself.”
Burris nodded: “Wait a moment. I have to find a pair of shoes for you. Didn’t Mr. Willis bring you shoes?”
“Who is Willis?”
“The flesh golem in the white apron.”
“He looked for them but didn’t find anything I could wear.”
Burris took out a pair of sheepskin slippers from the low cabinet by himself. “Yes, none of the mages who have lived here are as tall as you. If you must go out immediately, I have to trouble you to wear this first.”
After putting down the shoes, the mage opened the drawer and took out a small bag. He carefully checked the contents and added a few coins in it: “And these, take them. By the way, do you know how to buy things? ”
“I know. Although I can only go out for seven days in a hundred years, I will observe humans within seven days each time. It has been more than sixty years since my last ‘release’. Your social rules should have not changed so abruptly, right? ”
“Well… That’s fine. My Lord, if you want something, you must pay for it, don’t rob it.” Burris said earnestly. “I know you are very powerful, and I know that you may not be able to obey the rules set by human beings, but… All the people living in this neighborhood are my allies. They are loyal to me. It’s not easy for us to live. Just do it for me, you must not… ”
Roth was amused. “Don’t imagine me being so vicious, all right? I’m here to enjoy, not to suffer. Since I have money to spend, why should bother to rob things? ”
“Then I can rest assured,” Burris said, still uneasy from the look on his face. “You can take the money. If it’s not enough, you can ask me for it. If you need to buy something at the store in Holly Village, you can sign a check with them first, which is more convenient… ”
Suddenly, Roth raised his hand, touched the mage’s brow and flattened his frown. Burris was stunned. Roth asked, “Mage, I’m a little curious. Do you have any grandchildren?”
“No… what’s the matter?” Burris had been unmarried and had no children, how could he have grandchildren.
Roth sighed: “What I want to say is that you worry too much, okay? I am a higher undead demigod, not a mentally retarded child. I finally regained my freedom; I want to go shopping around here. Look at you, giving thousands of warnings, how old do you think I am?”
Burris smiled faintly. If this expression appeared on the face of an eighty-four-year-old man, it would be a kind smile full of life experience. Now it appeared on a pale and delicate young face, showing a soft and fragile taste.
“Maybe it’s my fault,” Burris sighed. “It’s said that people nag when they’re old. I didn’t believe it when I was young, and now it looks like it is true.”
Roth squeezed his shoulder. “Come on, you don’t have to say that again. Are you old? You are only twenty years old now! You are really twenty years old!”
Reminded of this, Burris even stood tall and straight: “Yes, thank you for that. Go ahead, then. When you come back, if it’s after dinner time, you can go to Mr. Willis, and he will arrange dinner for you. Willis is the flesh golem in the white apron… ”
Roth waved his hand and quickly disappeared from Burris’s sight. If he dragged on, he suspected that the mage would offer him to take some snacks.
After the Skeleton King who had regained his freedom left, the mage who had regained his youth stood there for a long time.
While there was no one around, Burris suddenly jumped on the spot. No bone pains and osteoporosis, no heel pain and cardiopulmonary disease! This felt so good! He walked out of the room feeling refreshed, called the floating disc and slowly lowered it towards the basement.
He had to go to see the remaining golem army. He fell into a coma when he left the other plane, not knowing if Estel brought them back smoothly.
Coming to the training ground in the basement, Burris smiled satisfied. As expected, Estel brought back a lot of the remaining golem army. At this moment, she was sitting on a small floating disc levitating on top of a large golem.
Hearing the movement at the door, Estel looked back and said, “By the Three Good Gods above…Master, I’m not used to you being like this.”
Burris walked into the training ground: “How many times have I said it? Don’t call the Three Good Gods in my tower. Even if you call them, they won’t hear.”
“Just words.” Estel said, sitting in the same place and bending over, “By the way, master, I should apologize to you. Yesterday I was too wayward.”
Burris waved his hand: “You’re young. It’s inevitable that you’ll lose your manners in that kind of situation. And I also made a mistake, I should have communicated with you more in advance. It’s all right. You have done a good job.” –Except when I had to kiss the Skeleton King first. It was all because of your suggestion, it made me look foolish…Burris held the last few sentences in his heart, why bother with a little girl at such an old age
“Are you fixing them?” Burris looked up.
Estel also put her eyes back on the golem: “Yes, it’s just a pity that I can only bring back a few. Some of the golems were not able to survive the battle, and others were affected by the collapse of the other plane. I gave them the command to follow, at least some of them came out, there are still more…”
“You’ve done a good job.” Burris looked up at the big guy beside her. “The core of this one is broken, don’t fix it. Come down. You should have a rest. When will you return to the capital?”
“I’m leaving this afternoon. My guard of honor is stationed at the Lily of the Valley Pass.”
Burris nodded: “Good. Come with me, I have something to discuss with you. ”
The mage brought the princess to the study. The doors of Burris’ study, bedroom, and laboratory were protected by magic. Without his own consent, no one else could enter. After returning to the tower yesterday, Estel couldn’t get into the study or bedroom, so she had to put her mentor on the sofa in the lounge with the Skeleton King. The lounge has only ordinary books and daily furniture, no important magic items, and there is no magic on the door.
Now, as he entered the study, Burris had a faint sense of something wrong. It felt like…If he were a fish, the study full of magic seals is a pool with suitable temperature for him. He has always been free to travel through it, as the so-called fish does not see the water. Today’s ‘pool’ temperature seems to be slightly different; the little fish can still swim in it, but at the moment of entering it produces faint discomfort.
The discomfort soon disappeared. Burris thought that perhaps because his soul has been moved back and forth too many times, and it is not synchronized with the younger body, he is now slightly sensitive to the magic in his study.
