Chapter 11: The Talk
This lesson, I will remember it for the rest of my life
Guan Ling obediently walked over and sat next to Xiao Cheng. “What’s the matter?”
“Sit here.” Xiao Cheng was evidently not pleased with the place Guan Ling sat and patted his thighs.
“No thanks. I’m rather heavy.” Guan Ling lightly rubbed his nose in embarrassment, and then added, “Didn’t you have something to talk about? If I sit there for a long time, your legs will feel numb.”
“You’ve lost weight now. Besides, even when you were at your heaviest, I could still carry you upstairs.” Xiao Cheng pulled Guan Ling onto his lap without giving him any opportunity to decline.
“It’s…… hard to talk if we’re like this.”
“What’s hard to talk about?” Xiao Cheng laid his head on Guan Ling’s shoulder. He even kissed the side of Guan Ling’s neck in passing.
Guan Ling inwardly said, ‘If you keep being like this, my entire focus will shift to the part you’re touching. Then, how will I still have the mind to talk?’
However, he didn’t dare to say these words to Xiao Cheng. He still remembered the time when they were at the peak of their honeymoon phase. He couldn’t get up from the bed because at that time too he had said something similar to this man who was two years younger than him.
And it was still less than 24 hours since the last time they did it.
As a matter of fact, Xiao Cheng also didn’t want to talk to Guan Ling at all. Compared to explaining all the matters to him, Xiao Cheng would rather use actions to prove that his feelings had never diminished.
He was very confident that he could pamper Guan Ling like he did in those years when their relationship was at its peak. He only needed time to make up for the lack of companionship these last few years.
“I met Zhao Qinqin at the hospital’s underground parking lot today.” Xiao Cheng thought for a bit before getting straight to the point.
Guan Ling reacted a little later. He immediately scolded somewhat unhappily, “Didn’t I tell you to return home and rest? You didn’t go back?”
“How could I dare ah? When the wife has spoken, this little one can only obey. I ran into her when I went to the hospital at noon. Zhao Qinqin forgot to return the medical records to you and came back at noon. We happened to meet and talked for a bit.”
“I was obviously the husband at the hospital, but it changed to wife after we returned home. Tsk tsk tsk.” Just like how Zhao Qinqin understood Guan Ling, Guan Ling also knew this partner of his that he’d worked with for so many years very well. After making a joke, he asked, “Did she tell you about the new movie?”
“Not just that.” Xiao Cheng hugged Guan Ling. He placed his right hand on Guan Ling’s stomach and carefully stroked it. “You didn’t tell me. Is it to punish me for not taking care of you?”
Guan Ling looked down at Xiao Cheng’s hand and smiled. “If you combine this action with that expression, someone who doesn’t know about the situation would think that I had a miscarriage.”
“Guan Ling……” Xiao Cheng helplessly called his name.
Guan Ling stopped smiling and replaced it with a serious expression. “How could it be to punish you? It is also a way to punish myself.”
It was to punish himself for being unable to be frank to the person closest to him. He really missed Xiao Cheng, but he didn’t dare to say it. It was also to punish himself for being a young man who didn’t care about his own body and not following Xiao Cheng’s continuous explanations telling him to always eat on time.
“It’s to punish me,” said Xiao Cheng softly. He also promised as he said next to Guan Ling’s ear. “Little Apple, I guarantee to you, this lesson, I will remember it for the rest of my life. I will never ignore you for anything again.”
A long time passed before Guan Ling made a sound of agreement. “Me too. In the future, I will always inform you. I won’t unreasonably want you to discover it by yourself.”
“It doesn’t matter. With me here, you can certainly be unreasonable. You can be willful and do whatever you want to do. It was my fault before. It won’t happen again.” Xiao Cheng once again kissed Guan Ling. “But I may have to take back what I said before. About you running away to other countries and whatnot. Don’t leave that way next time, okay? Fortunately, it was just a false alarm this time. Have you ever thought about it? If something really happened to you, what am I supposed to do?”
Guan Ling and Xiao Cheng only had each other as family in this world. Xiao Cheng had lost his parents, so his life would lose all meaning if he lost Guan Ling too.
Guan Ling also had some lingering fears. After Xiao Cheng spoke, Guan Ling immediately agreed. He thought of something and went to explain, “When I first applied for a Visa……I actually applied for yours, too. I was thinking of going on a vacation with you.”
“It’s alright. There will be more opportunities for us to travel around the world in the future.” Both of them regretted being unable to travel together. Xiao Cheng was afraid that Guan Ling would also feel sad so he quickly changed the topic. “Are you going to join the crew next Monday?”
“Qinqin wanted me to join on Monday, but……” Guan Ling glanced sideways at Xiao Cheng, wanting to say something, but he hesitated.
“What are you thinking?” Xiao Cheng reached out and poked Guan Ling’s forehead. “Of course I won’t let you go to the crew by yourself.”
“Ah?” Guan Ling’s sharp mind rarely short-circuited like it did now. He stared at Xiao Cheng blankly.
Xiao Cheng beamingly said, “I don’t know if Mr. Guan is still lacking an assistant. I’m twenty-eight years old this year. I have a bachelor’s degree. I can massage your shoulders, carry you on my back, and warm your bed when it’s cold. Most importantly, I’m cheap. I don’t need 998 or 888. Just one máo1, and I’ll come home with you. What does Mr. Guan think?”
“No need to think about it. Such a great deal. I’ll be stupid if I don’t take it.” Guan Ling spoke as if he was taking this seriously. He took out his phone and generously sent five máo2 to Xiao Cheng’s WeChat. “I’m giving you a little bonus. Remember to work well.”
Xiao Cheng licked his lips as he picked up Guan Ling and carried him to the bedroom. “Not only will I work well, I also have additional services. Mr. Guan, if you’re satisfied, remember to ask for me again next time.”
Guan Ling was being carried by Xiao Cheng as he said. “You just said it yourself. Warming the bed is within the scope of your work.”
“I can warm the bet. But besides warming the bed, I can also accompany Mr. Guan to exercise.” Xiao Cheng said as he placed Guan Ling on the bed. He leaned over Guan Ling. “I am very willing to verify that hair-touching theory with Mr. Guan again.”
Xiao Cheng mentioned that subject once again causing Guan Ling’s face to become flushed.
Although the two of them used their hands to take care of each other beforehand, Guan Ling knew how much vigor Xiao Cheng had in that aspect. In addition, Xiao Cheng had been busy for two months before the one month when Guan Ling left. If one really counted, three months had already passed since they last “exchanged feelings”. Guan Ling didn’t know if it was just his illusion, but he felt that the way Xiao Cheng looked at him was like a hungry male wolf looking at a large piece of meat.
And as that piece of meat, Guan Ling couldn’t help but cower. “I… I’m still sick.”
“You’ve been sleeping for two days and your fever has already dissipated. A little bit of exercise is good for your health.”
Xiao Cheng already begun to take both their clothes off, yet Guan Ling still made a final struggle. “Are you certain that it’s only ‘a little bit of exercise’?”
Even Xiao Cheng didn’t believe those words. He grinned. “It doesn’t matter. Mr. Guan can still rest for many days before joining the crew on Monday.”
Soon, both of them were naked and Guan Ling had no choice but to say, “Pull the curtains!”
This time, Xiao Cheng agreed very bluntly. He turned around and quickly pulled the heavy curtains close. All of the light was blocked and the room instantly changed from day to night. Not long after, an uncontrollable gasp could be heard in the darkness.
