Sha Qing - Chapter 34
Arc 4: Angel’s Room
Chapter 34: Dreamland
(Late release no. 2 out of 23)
I should use the fire escape and go down to the parking lot, Leo told himself.
The agent’s loud footsteps could be heard as he ran down the stairs, with a gun in his hand. He was determined to catch that man and rescue the little girl.
Upon arriving in the deserted underground parking lot, Leo saw the back of a man wearing a dark green jacket carrying a crying girl on his shoulders.
“Stop! Let her go, or I’ll shoot!” The agent yelled.
The other party stopped and pulled the girl down, then pointed the gun’s muzzle against her little head. “Go ahead and see if your bullet is faster than her brain being blown out” The brown-haired man threatened Leo with no fear.
The situation was on a deadlocked. The federal agent did not dare pull the trigger, and the fugitive holding the human shield stepped back cautiously. He was only a few meters away from the SUV with its door open behind him.
“Help … Mom … Help me …” The little girl struggled desperately, and her crying echoed inside the wide, concrete walled space.
“Shhh, sweetie, your voice is too loud. I like children who are a little bit more quiet and cute when crying.” The brown-haired man murmured against her ear. His voice was soft but cruel, and his eyes sunk beneath the brow bone flashed with a frosty gloom.
“Let her go. Let her go and we’ll have some room for discussion.” The agent persuaded.
“No ~ no ~ no.” His tone as he refused was like humming an annoying song, “I wouldn’t give up the prey I caught. You see, he’s such a beautiful little deer. His taste must be very, very delicious, right?”
“…He?” After the dark-haired detective froze, he stared at the figure being held by the culprit with a gun pointed on his head— was clearly Li Biqing!
Li Biqing looked at him with clear eyes, and his voice was as gentle and calm as ever: “Shoot, Leo. I would rather be shot to heaven by you, rather than go through extreme pain and fall into pits hell filled with resentment and bitterness!”
“… No!” Le’s shrill voice sounded loudly, “Let him go! Let him go! You son of a bitch! You dare hurt even a single strand of his hair and I will skin you and smash your body!”
“Really? Then let me see your determination, agent. Hurry up and shoot, and then you can do whatever you want.” The fugitive stretched out his dark red tongue and slowly licked the young man’s neck like a snake as he stared at Leo.
“You know you’ll hit him, don’t you? It’s here, the carotid artery, jugular vein, and other piles of blood vessels. His blood would definitely spray out and spill on the dirty concrete floor, like an ink. He would die in pain and watch his own blood run dry…”
“Shut up! Shut up!” Like a lion being besieged by enemies, Leo growled violently—not only because of injuries, but also because his partner and a child were in danger. With a gun held by both of his hands hands, his index finger was being tempted on pulling the trigger….. But he can’t! Yes, he knew the result once he fires a shot— he would definitely hit the hostage’s neck! That is definitely the case because that’s how it always happened each time, again and again!
“Ah, you dare not shoot this time. Why? Oh, I see!” The brown-haired man proudly announced, “You are in love with this little deer, and you also want to taste this wonderful delicacy. A pity that he has fallen into my hands. You only have two choices: either turn him into a corpse now, or wait for me to send him to you in pieces. Rest assured, I will choose a precious gift box with a beautiful ribbon—one that is worthy of him.”
The dark-haired agent bit his own lips until blood came out. If the anger in his eyes could turn into something tangible, his opponent’s bones might have turn into dust by now. He couldn’t pull the trigger although the muscles in his entire body were screaming for him to fire the gun!
He couldn’t —he couldn’t kill the young man he loves with his own hands! But he couldn’t just watch him be killed by that lunatic! He felt like his entire being was being burned by black flames of hell, full of pain and despair. His brain even gave birth to the idea to just escape—to just pull the trigger on his own temple….
Suddenly, someone hugged him from the back and two arms stretched out from behind him, holding his hands with the gun. A familiar warmth and breathe enveloped him, then a clear male voice sounded at his ears: young, strong, sharp, with a slight British accent— like a knife with an elegant pattern that could easily cut the solidified air:
“No!” The black-haired detective immediately refused, and then he realized something: “This voice …”
“… It’s you— Sha Qing!”
“Shoot. This time you won’t miss, because I’m behind you.” The serial killer said, “Take advantage of my strength, Leo. Let us end this infinite, fucked-up cycle….”
The moment the gunfire sounded, Leo woke up from his dream.
In the dim light, his surroundings reminded him that this is a hotel in River Gorge Town. He was lying on the large bed of the VIP suite and just experienced a scary and a dream so realistic.
It was the scene of that year—it was haunting his dreams almost every night for years now. That scene kept on repeating like an endless loop, like a vicious eternal curse.
But this time, something was different.
The heat of another body suddenly came into contact upon his back. Leo turned slightly and found that Li Biqing was sleeping soundly against his back. The Chinese youngster was wearing a close-fitting T-shirt and shorts, and he had kicked off the thin quilt. His arms were wrapped around his waist, searching for some warmth like a cat.
It was not until now that Leo realized how absurd and strange the request he asked from the other a few hours ago and, strangely enough, he was given consent.
He looked at Li Biqing’s serene sleeping face and he remembered the dream just now—the little girl in his dreams became Li Biqing. He thought that the incident five years ago was already a horrifying one, but now, he discovered that there’s something worse, that is —if the one who got kidnapped was his boy. If that dream became a reality, he doesn’t know if he will ever shoot—or to whom.
But there’s something he couldn’t understand. Why did Sha Qing appear?
Indeed, Sha Qing was also a frequent guest in Leo’s dreams, but it was limited to the cases related to him (SQ). They were all about the crimes he committed and Leo uses it try to figure out Sha Qing’s identity. But why did he show up this time, when it not a case related to him? It’s like he’s someone from a TV series: a villain boss from the previous episode, then he suddenly turned into a decent assistant in the next episode.
Leo thought about what happened in his dream: Sha Qing stood behind him in an intimate manner, with the latter’s chest against his back, arms folded over his arms but… he didn’t feel any sense of crisis—Was he subconsciously thinking that Sha Qing is a trustworthy person? Damn it! It feels like those kind of police films: The powerful policeman and the a gangster began to cherish each other … The hell! They stood on the opposite side of the law and doomed to never coexist in that lifetime. Was it because I watched too much of those that I got brainwashed? Or maybe because of that kiss we shared when we nearly died?
——That burning contact between their lips—
Leo subconsciously licked his lips with the tip of his tongue, trying to extinguish the sensation engraved by those flames. However, it did not work as expected and instead, the smoldering sensation spread to the tip of his tongue to his teeth, accompanied by a tingling feeling. Suddenly, the breath of another man filled his mouth— his flexible tongue, his superb skills— and the taste of blood and passion and, the smell of sweat and gunpowder filled his nose … Memories of that scene were enough to make his blood boil. Leo had to admit it: “For men, violence and pleasure sometimes come hand-in-hand…”
Then, Li Biqing who was next to him rolled over and rested his hands on his lower abdomen.
Leo painfully realized that he was a thirsty man who was standing by a lake. And although the ‘living’ water was close at hand, he couldn’t ‘drink’ it.
He didn’t know how much restraint it took him before he managed to remove Li Biqing’s hand away from his body. The youngster seemed like he was disturbed by the movements— he turned over and over again, and then finally stopped moving.
However, this situation almost drove the federal agent crazy: the young man changed from lying sideways to prone position, and the hem of the T-shirt moved up from his waist, exposing the small section of smooth skin and blue underwear. That thin blue cloth outlined the rounded buttocks, and the pair of white, slender, but well-built thighs, were placed in front his eyes like a like a delicacy. That scenery was a strong invitation to temptation, just like a living fragrant spring dream.
Leo excruciatingly got up from the bed, and headed towards the bathroom. He rested his still-hot skin to the cold tiles for some time and then took a shower. After bathing in cold water for nearly half an hour, the heat in his body had subsided. He dried himself and walked back to the room.
Leo quickly put on his clothes like a layer that could suppress his desire, and then went to the balcony to smoke. He rarely smokes, and even hates the smell of lighted tobacco, but now he needs this uncomfortable spicy feeling to suppress the tightness in his throat.
…… Maybe I should go find someone— a one-night stand or something… he thought. If someone suppresses their physiological needs for too long, it will affect emotions, and even their logic would weaken to the point of frustration. But if Li Biqing discovers that I’m like this, what kind of expression would he make? Would he say “Leo, spend your vacation time with a girlfriend-or a boyfriend?” with a face full of pity towards me?
Thinking of that scene, Leo felt extremely dejected: Just why? Why did I fell in love with a man who was going to become his future brother-in-law? However, the “future” has many variables isn’t it? … Leo thought as his mind wandered aimlessly, but he suddenly scolded his self for his shameless thoughts: What am I thinking? I’m stealing my sister’s happiness!
Forget it. He loves him, but, he’s not yours after all! Leo, forget it! He strictly warned himself as he let smoke spread from his fingers to completely numb his brain’s delusions.
The sky began to brighten, and the long night of this remote town was finally over. Leo heard some movement inside the room, so he extinguished the cigarette in the already-full ashtray. He walked towards the bed and smiled:
“You’ve woken up? Good morning.”
