Chapter 26: Monster knight vs mice mob (part 1)

Right, there’s something I haven’t mentioned. Last night, when I came back, I found my parents packing up to go back to our territory because they were requested to help stop a monster’s stampede happened in a neighboring viscount’s land. So, right now, they are already on the way while relying orders to Vigne’s mother through a forest servant called rumor gnome, who can communicate telepathically to others of their family without caring about distance.

Given the circumstances, right now in the mansion there’s only me, Vigne and the Capital’s servants.

*CRASH*

“I say, Vigne, normally at this hour, most people would be sleeping, am I wrong?”
“It’s just as you say, Young Master.”

*CRASH* *STAB*

“And if not sleeping, people would be having breakfast like me right now, correct?”
“Yes, Young Master.”

*STAB* *PLUNK* *CRASH* *SWISH* *STAB*

“So I’m assuming that being angry right now isn’t wrong, right?”
“2 servants, although lightly, were injured already, I don’t think there’s something wrong if Young Master were to deal with these rude people.”

*CRASH* *CRASH* *SWISH* *STAB*

“Also, I think my authority will fall if I don’t address this matter accordingly, since it would be scary for my future servants to belittle me. In other words, I’m allowed to utterly exterminate them. What do you think, Vigne?”
“You are right, Young Master. Though, I would like to destroy these vermin myself, since they almost hurt you.”
“That won’t do, you must take care of the servants’ evacuation, I will deal with these fools.”
“I understand, Young Master, please enjoy yourself.”
“You too, I will contact you once I’ve had enough fun.”

After caressing Vigne’s cheek, I turned around to the main entrance’s door, from where I looked at the mob surrounding the mansion.

“Less than 200 mice? The Duke surely is sub estimating me.”

This may sound abrupt, but it’s world-building time! Among the knights, there are factions, aside the noble-tied ones. These factions are defined, although it’s mostly a generalization, through their upbringing region, there are the monster knights like me, who are surrounded by monster’s dens; the sea slaughterers, who are fond of fighting pirates and escorting maritime voyagers; the high hunters, who trained themselves to affront the mountain territories at Legos Empire’s west lands; the Imperial Knights, who are the 10 strongest knights serving directly under the Emperor; and the mice mob, weaklings born in this obviously safe Capital, who have never stepped on a monster den nor fought an enemy army, their usual routine is patrolling the Capital and stopping simple brawls by mobbing their opponents… just like right now, where 200 knights came to subdue me.

“Darlas Rosalias! You are under arrest!”

See? Right when the knight on a horse yelled at me, all the frontline prepared their swords.

“I have to say that you guys look pretty hostile to just be arresting me!”
“Give yourself an easy way and give up for once! Don’t force our hands!”

I couldn’t help but sneer.

“To think that the day where a mouse would yell at me would come… Ice Lance!”

*SWISH* *BLING*

“It’s futile!”
“Because you are coated on anti-magic metal? I know that, just wanted to test something.”
“You cocky brat!”
“At least I’m better than a puny old man who can’t win alone. Same goes for your smelly boss.”
“Insolent! How you dare you insult His Excellency the Duke!?”
“That’s why, mice… Listen dude, I never said who your boss was, it was you who said it, that the Duke is smelly. Should someone so disrespectful like you lead his force?”
“…!”

Hey! Don’t go quiet so easily! I want to slander you more! Why are you cowering like that! C’mon! Yell some more!

“ATTACK!!!!”

Really!? That’s what you do when you lose an argument!? Well, whatever, I already bought enough time.

*BLOP*

It was just a sound, but for those prideful knights, it will become a nightmarish shame that would pursue them for the rest of their lives.
