Quick Transmigration: The Second Female Lead is Poisonous - Chapter 29
Was he a man who was gentle and tender to women? Obviously not. It was simply because he was injured and his increasing body temperature was a warning sign for him to rest. However, the miss didn’t know that. Of course, it was also her luck that she didn’t know of this or she might have fancied the idea of running away, and ending up with a sword wound on her neck.
The man closed his eyes as he pretended to rest but he didn’t allow himself to fall into a deep slumber. His consciousness was spread thinly into many directions.
It wasn’t until a small, cool and tender hand pressed against his forehead that he felt his senses had become dull. He wasn’t even able to notice that a woman who didn’t know martial arts had approached him. He strengthened his concentration and could hear the girl running further away and he felt helpless in his heart. He didn’t open his eyes but his hand was already unsheathing his sword from the scabbard, emitting a frosty chill. But very quickly, those faraway footsteps came back towards him and he put his sword away.
This time, a wet handkerchief was placed on his forehead. The coolness made him feel extremely comfortable and his breathing slowed down into longer breaths. He felt so comfortable that he couldn’t help but relax. This was a natural flaw in human nature.
The early morning sun was accompanied by the sounds of birds chirping. A morning in March was most suitable for sleeping in. Even if one opened their eyes, they wouldn’t want to do anything except lie down for a little longer.
He was leaning against the wall as he glanced at the girl curled up in the corner. She was still sleeping. Her hair which was originally intricately arranged, was now very messy. Her expensive clothes and accessories were dirtied and she was also barefooted. Her ten fair toes matched against the grass made her appear cuter. Her socks and shoes were placed next to where the fire was. It was dark last night so she had clumsily stepped into water.
He didn’t watch her anymore and changed his line of sight towards the wet handkerchief from his forehead that he was now holding in his hand. He looked towards the fire which had become a pile of soot. No one knew what he was thinking of or maybe he wasn’t thinking of anything at all.
After a while, the person sleeping in was finally woken up by the loud chirping of birds.
“Miss Xia, good morning.”
Once Fengguang opened her eyes, she didn’t even have time to take in the man’s bright smile before he threw a handkerchief at her face.
“Go wash up, you have crust in your eyes.” He said, smilingly.
Fengguang’s expression froze and very nearly picked up a rock to toss at him. Instead, she loudly harrumphed and even though she was bare-footed, she walked over to the campfire to pick up her socks and shoes. She glanced towards him and harrumphed again before heading towards the small stream by the temple to wash her face.
He rubbed his chin. “Heh, so she does have a temper.”
Bullsh*t, everyone has a temper, okay?!
Shortly after, they spent nearly an hour to get through the forest and arrived at a place called Tong City. Right as they entered the city, they noticed a warrant stuck onto the city gate.
“Hefty reward for capture of Guangliu’s spies. The spies have kidnapped a noble lady as hostage. If anyone has information to offer, they will be bestowed a thousand gold.” On the warrant, there were two portrait drawings of the spies.
Fengguang stared at it from a distance and she couldn’t help but admit the artist really did a good job at drawing their faces. Her portrait wasn’t on the warrant but if people were to know that the noble girl who was kept hostage was her, her reputation would be completely tarnished. She swept her gaze around as though to ask for help but she was helpless since she was muted again because of her pressure point. He was also gripping tightly onto her wrist.
“The Ghost King’s efficiency is not bad.” Even in this situation, he still had the time to compliment his enemy. “Miss Xia, it seems we need to dress down a little.”
After he said this, he casually took some dust from the wall and slathered it all over her face. Her originally clean, fair face was now comparable to a comical tabby cat.
She widened her eyes in anger and protest. Ah, what kind of dressing down was this? Was she not allowed to retaliate when bullied like this?!
Yes, you can’t retaliate even if I’m bullying you.
The smile in his eyes very clearly relayed this message.
