Menu wo Douzo : Here's the Menu - Menu 1 Chapter 1
“Urgent recruitment. Why don’t you try working as a chef at a scenic resort area?”
If you think about it now, it would be no exaggeration to say that this tagline had changed Shiori’s life.
(It was certainly scenic…)
The streets reminded you of medieval Europe; they were cute and beautiful, the hotel reflected in the lake looked exactly like a palace.
Originally, this was a villa of the royal family remodeled into a hotel, so it was indeed understandable.
(It is not wrong to say this is a resort area either.)
This was a resort area where people with too much free time from neighboring countries came to escape the summer heat, and public order around here was surprisingly good.
(Calling me a cook is also correct.)
According to what I heard at the beginning, I was entrusted to one of the restaurants in a state-owned hotel.
(So the catch copy is not wrong…)
However…only the most important point was not mentioned at all.
MENU 1 : Pudding made with fresh eggs of Dogadoga birds and milk of Hallow cows
“Shilly, this pudding you made, is the most delicious dish today.”
“Thank you, your Highness. But my name is Shiori. I have repeated it hundreds of times, so can you please remember?”
“Isn’t Shilly way cuter? It’s a good name, it means ‘dreams’ in ancient language.”
“Yes, yes, I understand.”
After a year, Shiori was tired of the arguing back and forth that happened almost everyday.
Shiori might as well give up, but it was hard to get accustomed to being called a different name than what you were usually called for twenty something years.
“Shilly, I would like to request a pudding for tonight’s dessert.”
He was estimated to be around 15 years old. The Prince, with his jet-black hair and amethyst eyes declared with a smile tinting his whole face.
Of course, Shiori had absolutely no right to refuse.
…because you see, the Prince in front of her was her employer.
(For tonight’s dessert ‘as well’, you mean, your Highness?)
“Hmm? What’s the matter?”
“No, there is no problem.”
(You may claim the title of Lord Pudding soon enough.)
Shiori killed the murmur in her heart and smiled gently.
‘The separation of facial expression and inner thoughts,’ this was one of the essential skills for working adults. If you just say what you think, or show what you think in your facial expression and attitude, you can’t live smoothly in this world.
(I wonder how many puddings I have to make in one day…)
However, in this era when finding a job is difficult, it was not reasonable to complain because thanks to this pudding she could find this job, although imperfect but brought forward a great increase in salary.
(If it really is true, then I must thank the pudding…)
She couldn’t thank the pudding earnestly because it took considerable amount of physical work to make this pudding.
Shiori sighed once.
Looking outside the window, there were two moons in the sky.
Seeing that scenery, you would instantly recognize that you were in a parallel world.
(It’s already one year…)
While bringing the Prince’s empty pudding container to the kitchen, Shiori remembered the things before she came here.
