Chapter 2: Fairytales and Bubbles
Two months ago, Qin Ge was still dating Hai Lan. But now, Lin Siwei had become his girlfriend.
Both the Qin and the Lin families were of high standings. The Qin Family was already extremely powerful, but the Lin Family was a little bit more powerful than them. Hai Lan had never been able to understand how powerful they truly were. But, she knew that no matter how much more power the Lin Family had, her breakup with Qin Ge was because of another reason. Qin Ge was young, yet he was already a major-general. She was aware of his abilities, his plans for the future and his contempt for the help of the Lins.
Qin Ge was a frightfully calm man. She could clearly remember the day they broke up. She had been making noodles from scratch. While she was rolling the dough, Qin Ge had appeared behind her and hugged her. He sat her on the counter, stripped her of her clothes and kissed her deeply. She was giggling and rubbing flour on his face. Later during the meal, he had looked at her and told her that he wanted to break up.
One minute he was kissing her, and the next minute, he said he wanted to break up.
She was stunned for some time, and then she faintly smiled at him and said. “You should have told me earlier…”
Qin Ge lowered his chopsticks and looked at her.
“If you had told me earlier, I would’ve cherished our last meal even more. You know I’m from the South, which is why I’ve never made noodles before. But for you, I’ve cooked this bowl of noodles for four hours…” Qin Ge looked at her for a while, and the corners of his lips rose.
“I’ll reward you for this.”
He handed her a seven digit check.
“Why?” She had asked.
Qin Ge tiredly answered her and said, “Lin Siwei is more suitable for me.”
“Alright,” she said.
She had been with Qin Ge for three years. She wasn’t his first girlfriend. Before they started dating, he had already gone out with many women. She should be thankful that he dated her. He had let go of his identity to date an ordinary girl like her for three years.
Her parents had divorced and each had remarried and had other children. Although she had two families, neither was willing to acknowledge her. When she was 16 years old, she packed her suitcase and left home. It was like a scene from a movie. Other than asking her parents for her living expenses, she decided to live quietly. Until her junior year, where her history professor had taken her and a few other students to the cemetery for some excavation practice. There, at a tomb from the Han Dynasty, she met him.
At that time, he had walked past her. She had thought that he was a senior student in her department. As a result of this misunderstanding, she had asked him to assist her with the tools and carry some things. Everyone had looked at her shocked. She later learned that the tall and handsome man she had mistaken, was looking for Lin Siwei.
The Qin and Lin Families had close relations. As a result, Qin Ge would often be invited to take part in activities in the school department, attending occasionally. After the misunderstanding, she would try to avoid him whenever he passed by. They never talked much, until that night. She had been walking alone near her school when she noticed some drunken men.
She was scared, but that was when Qin Ge suddenly appeared and beat them up. He was so ruthless that he broke the hand of the first man. “Where were you going so late at night?”
When he asked her, his eyes were dark and his tone was extremely displeased. He was scarier than the few drunk men.
