  3. Chapter 3 - Meeting

Lin Miao was really nervous. After all, she only knew about working from her cousin in the village, who was five or six years older than her.

The cousin said that working was very hard, and that she had to work overtime at night. The boss had a bad temper and often scolded people.

She wasn’t afraid of hard work, overtime, or being scolded by others. It’s that…Lin Miao was a little afraid of being rejected. When she went out of the village, she was confident and bragged a lot, saying how she’ll buy sugar for them during the New Year. But if she’s sent back, Lin Miao doesn’t know what they would say…

Lin Miao looked at the tip of her shoe and thought, she must work diligently.

At the time, the housekeeper handed her over to a middle-aged woman. “Give her a bath.”

Lin Miao followed obediently anyway.

Then they went down the stairs to the second floor.

Lin Miao’s eyes couldn’t believe herself. How could there be such a beautiful place!

After going up the stairs, she saw pure white carpets on the ground of the second floor…

At this time, the door of the next room opened, startling Lin Miao.

A man in a white coat walked out with a boy who was one head taller than her.

The teenager’s face was pale, and his eyebrows looked better than those seen on TV in the town. He was wearing a white lining, and he was as elegant as a painting.

Lin Miao looked at him intently, dumbfounded.

The teenager frowned and looked over. His eyes were beautiful, light brown, and he said, “Is it her?” The words came out husky and hoarse, with more standard Mandarin than Lin Miao’s Chinese teacher.

In an instant, Lin Miao recovered, and her embarrassment came up at once. When she lowered her head, she found that her trousers were curled up, and there was still mud on her shoes. Get up, coo…

There seemed to be only sound in the air. Then she was scolded by the teacher, who told her to go to the penalty station, which also made her feel ashamed.

Lin Miao felt embarrassed.

However, the pitiful little prince glanced at her, and whispered to the doctor in the back, “Let them send her back. I don’t need her.”

Lin Miao was still stubborn at the critical moment, even when she was uneasy. Panicking, she quickly talked, not thinking about what work she needed to do. “I…I am very capable and I can do a lot of things…”

The little prince declared while coughing, “I don’t need an eight-year-old child to do things.”

His hair was soft and light brown, his skin white and shiny, and his lips were red but pale. Even when he’s coughing, he still looks elegant and tall.

Just when the maid didn’t know what to do, a voice came from the stairs. “I think the little girl is fine and healthy.”

Then, when she saw the old lady coming up, she said in surprise, “Xiaoyu, you’re awake? This must be fate! When this little girl arrived, you woke up.

“Grandma, send her back. I don’t need her.” The little boy coughed his lungs out.

The old lady hurried forward to pat him on the back, then told the servant next to him, “Take the girl to wash up first.”

The maid pulled Lin Miao, who was a little dumbfounded, to the next room.

Lin Miao was stuffed into the bathroom. The maid said, “Should I wash for you, or do you want to do it by yourself?”

“I can do it by myself,” Lin Miao said, embarrassed.

The maid said, “This is for washing your hair, this is for taking a bath, the water is here, here is the cold water, here is the hot water. You wash up first, I’ll go get your clothes for you.”

After the maid went out, Lin Miao did what the maid said, and washed her hair and took a bath.

Her stomach growled. Lin Miao remembered the scene that just happened, and her face grew red again. Her stomach wasn’t as proud.

Lin Miao hurriedly drank the water from the faucet next to her. Don’t remind me, it’s really shameful!

At this time, the maid knocked on the bathroom door. “Have you washed?”

“Washed,” Lin Miao replied.

The maid handed her the clothes.

Lin Miao found out that she was wearing the same look as the good-looking little prince. Remembering that time, the old man said that she would wear his old clothes. Lin Miao blushed and put it on.

When she came out, the maid started blowing her hair. Her hair was long enough to wrap around her ears. It was short, dark, and shiny.

She was fragrant all over, and Lin Miao couldn’t help but smell it. It smells so good!

Lin Miao couldn’t help but smell again, it was still really good!

The maid dried her hair and said, “You sit here and wait, the young master’s mood swings are a bit big, so I won’t be able to see you for the time being.”

Lin Miao sat down obediently. After the maid went out, she was too shy to walk around the room, worried that she might trample on other people’s things. The maid brought her a pair of slippers, and they were grey and plushy.

Wearing such beautiful slippers, Lin Miao couldn’t help but think of the little brother outside.

She took out her school bag and put it away.

My belly isn’t so hungry anymore.

After a while, she heard a knock on the door. Lin Miao hurriedly stood up and opened it.

When she opened the door, she found out that there wasn’t anyone outside. Lin Miao looked left and right, but there was no one there.

Lin Miao looked down and saw two apples on the ground. She blinked. A bit strange, are the two apples for her? Lin Miao was so hungry that she picked up the apple.

The two apples were red and big, better than those in town. They must be crisp and sweet.

Lin Miao put it on the table in the room, only watching and drooling over it. She didn’t eat it because her mother told her to not touch something if it wasn’t hers.

In their village, a family planted a lot of pear trees. When they were ripe, the trees were filled with the enormous fruits. Looking at the sight, Lin Miao used to follow a few friends to pick two. She took one and came back. The fruit was shared between her and her younger brother. When her mother found out, she beat them and took Lin Miao to apologize. Afterwards, her mother also planted a pear tree in the yard. Pears grew ripe on it.

As for her, she developed a good habit. If they aren’t her own, don’t be greedy about them.

However, Lin Miao swallowed, she was so hungry.

In her heart, she wanted to go home. At this time, her mother should be making dinner already. After a while, someone called her.

“Shui Shui, have dinner.”

Lin Miao quickly opened the door to see the big sister who took her to the bath.

“The old lady wanted me to take you to dinner,” the other party said.

Lin Miao’s eyes were hot, and after thinking of the apples, she entered the room and gave her the apples. “I picked these up at the doorway.”

The maid found it a little bizarre. How could an apple suddenly appear by the doorway? The maid took the apple. “Then, I’ll take you to dinner first. The little master is losing his temper, so in these two days, you have to eat with us.”

Lin Miao nodded. She doesn’t care, she can eat any meal. However, she cares about another thing. Lin Miao asked softly, “Did he lose his temper because he didn’t want me to be here?”

The maid was surprised at her question and looked at her uneasily, and her heart softened. “No.”

Then the maid remembered how the little master bullied and made several rich ladies cry, and looked at the little girl again. With a little sigh, she thought, she was now like this, and she doesn’t even know whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing.
