A New Novel!!!!! Will try to update every Monday.

Proofread by: Chan

The bus took a turn and would reach the bus station after another traffic light.

Qi Cheng took one last puff of his cigarette, then stubbed out the cigarette on a trash can with his two slender fingers.
From his pocket, he fished out a Wrigley’s Doublemint and threw it inside his mouth.

The bus came by slowly. Sticking both of his hands in his pockets, he waited for the bus to reach him before taking out his bus card from his wallet. The driver opened the door, and watched him habitually take out the card and flip it around his fingertips several times before swiping the card to pay.

The first bus at 6 o’clock in the morning was mostly filled with students.
The parents of the Second High School students had repeatedly complained about the school uniforms. The uniforms were white from head to toe. On the chest was the school badge, whereas at the back the school’s name was written in red, and in addition on the left side of the sleeve three blue bars were neatly arranged. It’s dull and easy to get dirty, so every family had to prepare two sets. They often need to be washed everyday during this season.

Qi Cheng looked around and found a single seat by the window. He propped up his chin with a hand and looked out the window out of boredom.

His legs were bent, unable to spread out in this cramped space. He was also in the Second High School’s uniform, looking clean and fresh. It seemed to have the pure and fresh scent of cleaning agents. His uniform’s jacket was pulled open, showing the white shirt inside with the school badge printed on it.

A male student, who was sitting at his opposite, took a quick glance at him. He then covered his own clothing with his schoolbag, wondering why was it that with the same ugly school uniform, this person looked so fashionable and good-looking compared to him.

Boarding the bus from this station costs 2 Yuan. (0.28$ is what google told me) There are 13 stops to Second High School which takes about 20 minutes and it’s enough for a small nap. Two stops later, the bus was crowded with students wearing the Second High School’s uniforms.

The driver uncle shouted at the top of his lungs, “Those who just came, pass the card to the front!’’

The noise and the foul smell of sweat and the fragrance of rice were mixed together. Qi Cheng opened his eyes without a trace of sleepiness. Raising his head, he looked at the time and the name of the station displayed. Then, he stood up and offered his seat to the girl next to him.
The girl was blushing with embarrassment and began to wave her hands. “No, no, no, it’s okay, classmate.’’

“Just sit.’’ Qi Cheng smiled as he stretched out his left hand to hold the armrest and looked at the sweat on the girl’s head due to pain. “We are almost there. I will stand for a while.’’

The girl pressed her stomach and endured it for a moment, then only she sat down embarrassed.

The people next to Qi Cheng cast their gaze on him.

He’s tall and has good body proportions as his shoulders and back propped up the school uniform. When he stood straight with one hand holding the handrail and the other in his pocket, he looked like a straight and slender bamboo, standing out like a crane among chicken in the bus.

Qi Cheng looked out of the window, watching the shops at the roadside that flitted pass. When the bus took a turn, someone carrying a school bag hit him on the back and hurriedly apologized, “I’m sorry.’’
“It’s alright,’’ he laughed and said. “It’s quite a sharp turn.’’

The person that bumped into him touched his head and laughed too.

Ten minutes later, the bus finally arrived at the station, everyone hurriedly squeezed out of the bus. Qi Cheng let out a breath of relief after he got down the bus. The taste of the chewing gum was still lingering in his mouth. He raised his hand to check the time. It was 6:45 and since it was still early, he could go to the dormitory.

The Second High School is a boarding school with a holiday of two and a half days at the end of the month. It starts on Friday noon and they must return on Sunday evening or Monday morning. Qi Cheng had only a sling bag, which had two books that he simply took at home in it, as well as his wallet, and cigarettes.

The dormitory building was full of people rushing out to the cafeteria to have breakfast. Qi Cheng’s steps weren’t hurried, but he still reached the dormitory’s front door fast. The moment he opened the door, the chaotic mass of people inside immediately stared at him with wide eyes. Only after seeing that it was him, did they relax, letting out a breath of relief. “So you came, Qi Cheng.’’

“Mhm.’’ Qi Cheng threw the bag into his cabinet and sat down on a clean lower bunk. His finger touched his lips, near the tip of his nose. He could still smell the cigarette smoke. He isn’t a heavy smoker and doesn’t have nicotine dependence. However, all men and women that had seen him smoke, were infatuated with the way he smokes.

“Are you waiting for us to eat?’’ Xia Li sat beside him, smelling like peppermint toothpaste. “Why don’t we go first? I expect the others will take a while. Piggy is still in the toilet.’’

“Ok.’’ Qi Cheng stood up, squeezing through the narrow dorm room. He took another black bag from a hook behind the door and went to the washing area. “Wait a minute, I’ll go wash my hands.’’
Xia Li replied, “Ok.’’

Second High School has two dining halls. One upstairs and one downstairs, the one downstairs has many main dishes, whereas the one upstairs has lots of snacks and refreshments.
On his way from the dormitory to the dining hall’s entrance, at least a dozen students came to greet him. Xia Li was used to it, and teased him after buying their meal, “If there’s few more people then we will be late this morning’’

Now it’s the end of August, the school term has just begun and the summer schedule is still being implemented. According to Second High School’s summer schedule, their first period would start at 7:20, but the class would only begin after 40 minutes of morning reading.

Needing to get up before 7:30 to brush their teeth, wash their face, fold the quilt, and eat, the sleep deprived young boys and girls would all rather not eat to sleep for a few more minutes.
All day long, they had dark circles under their spiritless eyes. They didn’t even need a pillow to have a pleasant and short dream during the 10 minutes break between classes.
Qi Cheng slept the whole morning. After the morning class someone outside shouted, “Class 3’s class monitor, please come out at once.’’

The voice was cool and refreshing, like a piece of peppermint, driving away the sleepiness in people.
Qi Cheng stood up lazily before walking to the door. “The class monitor isn’t here. Can I stand in for him for a while?’’ He leaned against the door frame with bleary eyes.

The tight folds of the cuffs left red marks on the side of his charming face. The student in the first row peeked over the top of the book to see his clean hands with a distinct bulge of joints and his face.

The top student, who was frozen stiff, nodded his head, “Please follow me to the office.’’
He turned around and walked to the front. His outer uniform jacket was neatly worn. Since he’s tall, wearing the elastic uniform pants emphasized the curve of his calves and led one’s eye to his especially straight long legs.

【The top student will be knocked down at the corner. Do you want to help?】

【A: The indifferent top student could deal with a difficult situation himself】

【B: Compared to falling on the ground, I think he rather fall into my arms】

A slight laughter tore out of Qi Cheng, as he leisurely quickened his pace.

The top student’s pace was rapid, but he bumped into another sturdy student rushing by at the corner. The impact made his steps unsteady and stumbled backwards.
Falling nicely into Qi Cheng’s arms.

The pure and fresh smell of lavender filled his nose. The top student subconsciously grabbed Qi Cheng’s white shirt with the school badge and pulled it down, exposing a small part of his collarbone. Looking at his exposed skin, the top student was in a daze.

Qi Cheng held him steady and rescued his clothes from his hands, “Top student, be careful.’’
“Chi Yan,’’ The top student calmly stroked his glasses that slid down. The tear-shaped mole at the corner of his eye was hidden under the frame of the glasses, “Thank you for just now.’’
“You’re welcome,’’ Qi Cheng smiled. “It was nothing.’’

He followed Chi Yan to the office. Teacher Yang, the class teacher was dumbfounded for a while upon seeing him. “Is Xia Li not around?’’
“He needed to answer the call of nature,’’ Qi Cheng came to his side and patted a thick stack of school assignments, “That’s all?’’
“Mhm, these are all, give them out during the break time.’’

“Teacher, have you conscientiously read my homework?’’ Qi Cheng wasn’t in a hurry to leave. Propping his arms up on the assignments, he talked to Teacher Yang with a smile, “Were you touched by my composition of ‘Praising My Teacher’?’’
Teacher Yang’s face blushed, “Are you deliberately looking for a beating?’’

Qi Cheng shrugged and left after taking the assignments. Teacher Yang shouted at him from behind, “Aren’t you waiting for Chi Yan?’’
“I’ll listen to you,’’ Qi Cheng paused, turning around to look back at Teacher Yang before continuing to speak, “If you want me to wait, then I will.’’

This is why people like this child. No matter who speaks to him or what he is told, he treats it all seriously.

“No need.’’ The top student was indifferent and aloof. “Thank you.’’
Qi Cheng smiled and walked out of the office without a pause. There were also students passing by the office that knew him waving to greet him.
On the way to the office, he would pass by an open area. where many male students would gather there during breaks to bask in the sun and chat. Qi Cheng did not look askance when he passed by, but he smelt the smell of a cigarette.

He tilted his head and squinted in the direction of the open area.

People in the southwest corner formed a circle. The person in the middle was sitting on a flower bed with his leg propped up by a stone bench, and between his fingers was a cigarette. An area where no one walks was formed around them.

The teenager who was smoking had actions that were as showy as his appearance. His eyebrows pressed downwards, and there was a ruthless and cruel look growing in his eyes.
It’s Wu Yuan, the School Tyrant of the Second High School.
After barely a glance at him, Qi Cheng shifted away his gaze.

When he returned to the classroom, Xia Li just came out of the toilet.
He was pale, weakly lying on the table and covering his stomach.
“Why is food poisoning so torturous?’’
Qi Cheng passed the assignments to another student to distribute them out. Then, he got his little yellow chicken cup, then poured the cup full of hot water.
“Drink more hot water.’’

His fingers turned red from scalding as the cup was too hot, but still he steadily put it down on the table. Xu Ning, the Chinese literature representative in front of him turned back with a smile, and took out a warm sticker from her desk and gave it to him, “Girls’ must-have magical tool. Qi Cheng, you can let Xia Li try it.’’
“Thank you.’’ Qi Cheng ripped open the warm sticker.
Xia Li wearily said, “I never expect that one day I can hear you utter those words that only playboys would say.’’

The whole class knew that Qi Cheng works part-time as a hand model.
Everytime his hands did something, it could make people fascinated. Xu Ning and her deskmate all came to guide Qi Cheng on how to use warm stickers. After talking and laughing for a while, Xia Li’s expression suddenly changed and dashed to the toilet.

Qi Cheng’s warm sticker was already getting hot. He looked at the empty space beside and sighed, “What did he eat wrong?’’
Taking advantage of the morning class, the person in charge of cleaning duty was watering down the hallway. The water in the mornings after autumn started was icy cold. After he watered the last aisle, Qi Cheng grabbed him.

The boy he grabbed froze. His long black hair covered his eyes and ears, making him look rather gloomy. His back was bent and his head bowed, looking down at the hand holding the corner of his jacket.
“Chang Yao.’’ Qi Cheng took out a paper towel and handed it to him. Then he put the warm sticker in his pocket, “Thank you for you hard work.’’
Chang Yao shook his head slightly and said in a low voice, “Thank you.’’
He left hurriedly after that.
