Silence.
After being silent for a while, Yu Shulin finally realized what he had blurted out. Hence, he facepalmed, mouth shut. He then dryly denied, “No. Nothing. I am just in a bad mood and wanted to take some air and relax. You don’t have to worry…”
“Why are you in a bad mood?”
Being interrupted, Yu Shulin’s de-stressed mind became tense. Opening his mouth, he let out a sigh before answering, “My examination results are low and Yu Xiu is very bothersome…”
“So, when you said ‘sewage ditch’, you were referring to your uncle?”
“…Yeah.”
“…What about your examination results?”
“Very crappy.”
“…”
Silence.
Again.
Yu Shulin squatted down, rubbed his face while encouraging himself—the scores were nothing! He has lived for two lives! That plaything of a score is not important! Not even a little bit!
And the sky deepened.
The noisy city quietened down. Only the echo of an automobile driving past could be heard.
Liang Zhou also caught the sound, and lowered his voice to inquire, “Where are you?”
Yu Shulin raised his head, glanced at the street lamp and blinked his eyes, “Outside.”
“Why are you still not back yet?”
“…”
“Did you get lost?”
Yu Shulin wished to knock himself on the pole of the street lamp and be reborn once more.
“Take a taxi to go back.”
“I don’t have money…” he lowered his head, sitting on the curb as he tried to make his voice sound calm.
“What?!” The car passing by was too loud, so Liang Zhou didn’t understand what he uttered.
“I said, I don’t have money!” Yu Shulin felt humiliated as rage flamed in his heart.
‘Why are you asking stuff that clearly? Don’t you know that adolescents have all a rebellious period? Letting you question me continuously, let me see how I make you angry to death if I reply in this way!!!’
Evidently, Liang Zhou lacked experience in dealing with a child in their rebellious phase. He paused and then returned to the initial question, “Where are you?”
Yu Shulin’s expression was clearly frustrated, “I am at a public bus stop… I am not a child! I can find the way back by myself!”
‘Therefore, don’t ask no more.’
Although it felt extremely nice to have someone’s attention, making him slightly get addicted to it, it was also too embarrassing.
“I mean, a specific address.”
“…One hundred meters from the right side of HuaDing Wine Shop, standing on the RongHua bus stop of the construction road.”
“Stay there and don’t move. Wait.”
Finished talking, Liang Zhou hung up the phone. Yu Shulin looked at his own cell phone helplessly, and pulled his hair with great strength, not used to his abnormal behavior of earlier.
How did he let him lead him by the nose? Replying to any questions the man made?
He felt rather annoyed. Now, how should he react? Should he be obedient and stay here, or simply walk away? Would his cheap brother find him stupid and troublesome?
After being confused for a good while, he peeked at his absolutely empty wallet, and then bowed his head, trying to press down that feeling of rebellion which emerged faintly. Conscientiously hugging his backpack, he stared blankly at the street light.
Never mind. He was underage anyway, so his frail momentum was just a weakness ma… But as long as he toughens up, retorting back would be enough!
Ten minutes later, He Long hurriedly rushed over and took him to the hotel he was staying in.
“Don’t run about anywhere, or the boss will get worried.” He Long hesitated for a short while before finally opening his mouth and spouting something positive about his boss. Heaven knew how frightened and much more active he became when he received his boss’ call and heard his strange tone.
“I apologize, I am troubling you.” Yu Shulin lowered his head, acknowledging the mistake earnestly—He has truly inconvenienced the other party in the middle of the night.
‘Ah! So well-behaved.’
Did he scare him?… He Long was at loss. After fidgeting for quite a while, he dully threw a word of comfort, “It’s nothing.”
Since it was too late and there were no other empty rooms available in the hotel, He Long brought him to his own room. He then nimbly selected a set of clothing and handed it over to him. With a guilty conscience, he explained, “You will have to sleep next to me. Those are new summer clothes, but they should be okay for you to wear them for sleeping. Quickly go and take a bath.”
“No, I don’t have any problems. I am the one bothering you too much.” Yu Shulin thanked again, accepted the clothes and headed towards the bathroom.
After washing himself and leaving the bathroom, He Long was right beside the window, conversing on the phone. Sensing a movement, he turned his head and shot him a glance. Then he murmured a few sentences before hanging up and reaching him as he stated, “The blower is in the bedside cabinet. Remember to dry your hair. Go to sleep first, I still have something to discuss with lawyer Ling and will come back in a moment.”
Yu Shulin nodded his head, showing that he understood, his clear eyes following He Long who was exiting the room.
After hastily blow-drying his hair, he embedded himself under the quilt, instantly drowning in sleepiness…
He thought that he must evade Yu Xiu while getting along with the new guardian… It seemed he couldn’t stay here, in W City… If he had to move, then his mother’s house…
Being a fully Wu Hao youth, Ling Chun was extremely vexed by He Long’s late visit. His eyes were still drowsy as he massaged his cramping head. Drooping his eyelids, he used the white of his eyes to glare at the intruder as he impatiently reproached, “If you have something to say, then quickly say it and then get lost!”

He Long almost choked. But then, he swayed the phone in his hand as he expressionlessly reported, “Boss told me to ask you if you have a way to check Yu Xiu’s bank account.”
“Only this small thing?” Ling Chu glowered at him with a dead-pan face.
He Long frankly nodded, “Yes… boss also said to solve this thing as soon as possible.”
Ling Chun grasped the door handle, nodded his head, continuing with an intolerant tone, “Did you finish?”
BD: this is real, this is me, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be…Mara: what?
He Long confirmed with a nod. The next second, ‘BANG!’ the sound of a closing door which nearly hit his nose.
…What a temper.
On the second day, after having breakfast, Yu Shulin declared his resolution to sell his house.
“Are you sure?” Ling Chun stirred the congee in his bowl and smiled as he asked, “Won’t you feel begrudged?”
“Nothing I would miss.” The boy shook his head, “The house will eventually become an abandoned building and I can’t also deceive myself that she will keep on living.”
He Long approved his decision and took the matter upon himself directly, “I will help you settle this affair. You rest well for a few days. After handling everything, we will return to B City. Boss’ house is huge, you will like it.”
“A local tyrant that no one loves.” Ling Chun rolled his eyes. After eating, the two adults waved their hands, “That lawyer Zhou is not coordinating the work. I reckon that Yu Xiu is unwilling to give up. You two have fun, I will go deal with that old baldy.”
“Then I will go handle the matter with the house. Let’s go, I will assist you in packing stuff. Before we go to B City, we will live in the hotel together and I’ll take care of you.” He Long told about their plans straightforwardly. Observing the silent Yu Shulin, he asked, “What do you think?”
The boy blinked and nodded, “It’s okay. I will trouble you.” The feeling of being taken care of as a child by someone else… wasn’t that bad.
Actually, there wasn’t much to tidy up. Only a few photo albums, mother’s remaining scraps, a few textbooks, some clothes… All those items added together could barely fill a small suitcase.
When carrying the small suitcase, He Long felt that it was a little light, so he doubtfully questioned, “Just this?”
Turning his head to take the last glance at the house which made up his happy memories, Yu Shulin enveloped the tiny box in his arms and nodded, “Yes, let’s go.”
Each item in this house has been collected and decorated by mother. As there was no way to take all the stuff away, then he will simply leave them here, leave them in his memories.
The author has something to say:
Liang Zhou: Shulin, the first man you are going to share the bed with is me, right?
Shulin: Of course not!
Liang Zhou [black face]: Who was it, then?
Shulin [smiling]: Did you forget? It was Big Brother He. That time when I got lost here in xxx and you called me and let Big Brother He meet with me.
Liang Zhou [depressed]: He Long! You come out! I assure you I won’t beat you!
He Long: QAQ young master Shulin why did you sell me out!
BD: haha, hello! What do you think of the new project? Come come and leave lovely comments! I may…
Mara: Hi! This is the new project! It seems interesting, so we picked it up! We will be trying our best! We need some cheers *opens up a champagne* To the new beginning!
