We line up as ordered. This time, Shilde acts as our tank and doesn’t charge in unnecessarily so we don’t start with a disadvantage.

“Hmm,” the auxiliary leader says. “You’re keeping a good balance, aren’t you? And it seems your commander’s got a good eye for tactics.”

It was nice to receive compliments but more than that, I want our party to win!

“However, we won’t go easy on you!” the leader said. “Attack formation!”

“Roger!” the others say.

The auxiliary party is moving side-by-side!? I see… then that means…

“Shilde, defend!” I say. “Hira, boost her!”

“Got it! Shield!”

“Right! Boost!”

Shilde’s barrier expands in size and strength. Our parties are evenly matched once more.

“Heh…” the leader says. “Aren’t you all acting fast? However… Fire!”

The three of them attack at once. As this is mock combat, they’ll lower their strength, but… if Shilde takes all those at once, her Shield’s not going to be able to take it.

“Tch. This is bad!” Shilde said. “It’s going to break!”

“Don’t panic!” I yell. “Hira, boost me! Yusha, prepare to counter!”

“Right!” Hira said. “Boost!”

As I’d thought, the three spells fizzle out and can’t break through two boosted barriers.

She casts the spell; since she has to hold back, it’s only as strong as a water gun but in a mock battle, we only need to hit them!

“Gah!” the auxiliary leader cries. “B Formation!”

The enemy’s tank immediately rushes up and blocks it with their Shield.

“Wonderful!” the teacher said. “You’re lasting longer than last time.”

“That counter-attack wasn’t bad,” the auxiliary leader says. “And… you’re coordinating properly this time.”

Of course, we are.. we’re stronger now!

“Shilde,” I said, “brace for the next attack. Yusha, you’re on offense. Hira, you’re on support. I’ll be joining in on our attack.”

You can’t win just by defending. I move from a defensive position to an offensive one, going from 1-1-1-1 to 1-2-1, if viewed from behind. Is going to attack a good decision? The responsibility will rest on me as the leader. But… this feeling of guiding the people I care about isn’t so bad!

“It’s time,” the teacher said. “I’m sorry for ruining your fun but we’ve got to be considerate to the other parties.”

The teacher dumps water over our fight… well, it’s the rules and this is for class, so there’s nothing we can do.

“… How were we?” I ask the auxiliary party.

“Hmm… you’ve still got some rough spots… but I think you’ll pass,” the leader says.

“Yes, thank you!” I said.

“You did, it, Lily!” Yusha cheers.

“Good calls!” Shilde said.

“I-It was easy with you!” Hira said.
