Chapter 8: Part 3 – Arch Enemies
When he awoke, the car had already parked in the courtyard. The setting sun was just outside, and the light passed through the old pine tree in front of the courtyard, shining
diagonally onto the car. Fatty Xiao was talking to a man with a long silhouette. The man had black trousers and a white shirt, looking sharp. It was Zhou Beiyang.
Fatty Xiao was afraid of Zhou Beiyang; this, Jin Yanliu knew. The two were sitting together, and Fatty Xiao was anxiously rubbing his kneecaps.
Jin Yanliu sat up, leaned on the seat, and laid down again. After awaking from a dream in a lazy summer afternoon, he felt the illusion of tranquillity.
The young idol sighed ruefully. This little brother of his was truly… handsome!
Fair skin and long, sexy legs. From top to bottom, he exuded the clean spirit of a twenty-year-old handsome boy. His back posture was always straight, highlighting his magnificence and grandeur.
The car window was open, and it wasn’t long before a cool breeze swept in. Zhou Beiyang suddenly stood up upon noticing Jin Yanliu was awake.
Jin Yanliu got off the car and exclaimed, “Why didn’t you call me?”
“You were sleeping so peacefully that I couldn’t. Besides, if I woke you up, you would get a headache, so I was gonna wake you up late,” Zhou Beiyang replied.
If Jin Yanliu slept for too long during the day, he would become tired. But if he slept too little, then he would become even more uncomfortable and get headaches.
“Why did you come home so early today? Didn’t you have something important to do at the company?” he asked Zhou Beiyang.
“I finished those matters.” Zhou Beiyang smiled. “For the next few days, I’ll be on break.”
“You deserved it.” Jin Yanliu grinned back.
Ever since Zhou Beiyang participated in that talent show, he had been too busy to rest, from the talent show itself, to being locked in to record for three months after he won, to after his debut.
The boy group he’s in has a contract expiry of two years. Naturally, as a result, Star Media would want to squeeze out every cent within the group of newly debuted idols.
“You can go back first and tomorrow, come pick me up,” Jin Yanliu said to Fatty Xiao. “I bought your parents something. It’s in the back car; don’t forget to take it with you.”
“Mm.” With a smile filled with joy, Fatty Xiao let out a grunt of agreement.
Then, Jin Yanliu patted Zhou Beiyang’s shoulder, bringing him inside the house.
“Grandma called today; she said she missed you and wanted us to go to her place for a meal when we are available,” Zhou Beiyang started.
Jin Yanliu nodded in acknowledgement and walked towards the refrigerator while asking, “She came back from abroad?”
“She arrived two days ago.”
Jin Yanliu took out a bottle of water and was about to open it when he heard Zhou Beiyang continue, “I cooked you some mung bean soup. It’s refreshing and cools you down from the summer heat, so don’t drink that iced mineral water anymore.”
However, Jin Yanliu didn’t listen and directly opened the cap. He was about to drink but when he saw Zhou Beiyang’s exasperated expression, he stopped.
And so, Zhou Beiyang repeated, “I made it specially for you.”
Even though Zhou Beiyang was an early bloomer, a youngster with the mind of an oldie, that didn’t mean that he didn’t know how to act spoiled. It was just that, only Jin Yanliu could tell apart his aegyo* and spoiled behavior from his regular conduct.
TL note: Korean for acting cute.
As an older brother, he would be deemed guilty if he didn’t follow, and so Jin Yanliu put down the mineral water onto the table and stretched out his hands.
With his eyes shining, Zhou Beiyang immediately poured him a bowl of mung bean soup.
It was still warm, and with a few spoons of sugar, the soup’s sweetness was just right.
Jin Yanliu was extremely thirsty and hurriedly devoured the soup. Beside him, Zhou Beiyang watched with a smile as his Adam’s apple moved up and down due to the swallowing motion.
With a few gulps, the bowl was empty, and Jin Yanliu quickly placed it down. He wiped his mouth, but there were still traces of soup on the corners of his lips, so Zhou Beiyang reached out and removed it for him.
“It was too hot today; I sweated buckets! I’m gonna go take a shower first,” said Jin Yanliu.
Zhou Beiyang watched Jin Yanliu’s silhouette as he walked out of his view. Then, he raised his hand, where the soup traces that had been removed from the corners of Jin Yanliu’s mouth laid.
He sucked the remnants before turning around to prepare the clothes that Jin Yanliu will be changing into after his shower.
The author has something to say: In the eyes of the older brother, who is the beholder: My little Zhou is the noblest of all!
The book’s cover is out!* The one in the red shirt is the Shou, and the one with a split eyebrow is the Gong. That’s right; the Gong is Zhou Beiyang! The ship “YangLiu” is now confirmed! The existence of the other Gongs is only there to incite jealousy and bloodshed, impelling little Zhou to erupt.
*TL note: I think this is the chapter where the book cover is released, but we, the English readers, already know how the cover looks, so this is just gonna be confirming our suspicions. Also, the paragraph below is NOT part of TL notes.
But don’t worry about whether the Gong is going to be too dark; little Zhou feels like the type to be on the bed cheering, “Big bro the best. Big bro, fighting!” (What am I even saying?)
*TL note: Aye! So it’s confirmed that there will not be polygamy nor eternal loneliness for the mc. Also, happy New Years (Eve)! 2020 has been a rough year despite being an auspicious number, so let’s hope that 2021 will be better. In the Chinese calendar, it’ll be the year of the ox!
