It was not the first time they were sleeping in the same bed , but this time there was a real sense that the dust had settled[1].

[1] meaning that everything is settled.

Yao Yuan’s room faced the east. In  the morning, as the sun rose the first ray of sunlight filtered through the window. When Jiang An Lan opened his eyes, he saw how the light was reflected on their feet. Her feet peeked through the colorful blanket, looked almost translucent in the sun.

Really splendid.

That was what came into Jiang An Lan’s mind. Slowly, he bore witness how the light made its way from the end of the bed.

When Yao Yuan regained her consciousness, she was the only person in the room. Her clothes were the household clothes she had worn last night. Then she heard some noise in the bathroom. That exact moment she took notice of   the man’s watch and black iPhone on the bedside table next to her, relief washed over her. It turned out that the “make up” last night was not her dream.

For a second, her mind was a little empty. Her laugh could not be contained then.

At the end they still ended up together.

After a long time, Yao Yuan got out of bed. First, she approached the window and opened the curtain. It was sunny outside.

After washing up, Jiang An Lan came out of the bathroom. Such simple action but it made people feel fresh. He came to her and said naturally, “Good morning.”

Yao Yuan saw two shallow scars on his right arm when they were having breakfast. She frowned and asked, “What’s wrong with your hand?”

Jiang An Lan also glanced at his arm and said, “Nothing, it was scratched by my father’s pen.”

Yao Yuan thought of his decision of changing his family name and was reminded of Jiang Jie’s mother’s words, “Do you really not want to be s Jiang in the future?”

En, my surname on the ID card should also be changed. Our children can be Qin, Yao or Jiang in the future.”

Yao Yuan finally had nothing to say.

When Jiang An Lan watched her burying her face on the food, he thought of the three previous meetings before coming here. His father’s resolute opposition, uncle’s disapproval, and grandma’s embarrassment. Finally, Grandpa’s permission: “Xiao Wu, your father doesn’t agree, and you also refuse to give in. I’ll make it up to you. Outside, people know you as  Jiang Tian. the Jiang An Lan on your ID card, if you want to change it, go ahead. ” This was the best way to solve the problem.

Yao Xin Ran paid a visit to her cousin’s house early in the morning. Having the spare key, she directly opened and charged in. As soon as she entered, she saw Jiang An Lan, who was cleaning up the table, and she was baffled. Hearing some noise, And Jiang An Lan turned her head and was greeted by s newcomer, nodded his greeting, he proceeded on taking the bowl chopsticks towards the kitchen.

They had just finished breakfast together. He was a good cook, but dishwashing was a different matter. To be honest, he had never washed dishes. But Jiang An Lan thought that this time was different from the past, so he rolled up his sleeves, turned on the tap, and fumble for washing.

Yao Yuan just returned to the room after taking a phone call from her grandma when  she saw her cousin standing at the door looking at someone who got his back towards them, washing dishes in the kitchen. She suddenly felt a bit not knowing what to do.

“Older sister.” Yao Yuan called out.

Yao Xin Ran came over the next second, grabbed her hand, lowered her voice and said, “Why is he here? You two…”

Yao Yuan thought that since she had decided to be with him, there was no need to hide anything, so she nodded. Yao Xin Ran put out her index finger and poked her forehead on the spot. “What’s the matter? Isn’t he from that family? Did he threaten you?”

A clang sound broke the conversation between the two sisters. Yao Yuan immediately looked back and found a broken bowl on the ground. Jiang An Lan was about to stoop and clean the mess  up. She ran into the kitchen and stopped him. “I’ll sweep with a broom.”

Jiang An Lan smiled and said, “I’m sorry for the inconvenience, I’ll accompany you to look for the entire set.”

Yao Yuan was speechless. When she went to the corner of the kitchen to get a broom and dustpan to clean the debris, Jiang An Lan washed his hands and headed to the living room. Yao Xin Ran was still frigidly standing there. He spoke in a whisper tone, “I’m with Xiao Yuan, why don’t you just leave it alone.”

Yao Xin Ran, who had always been easy-going, eloquent and never afraid of evil forces, was blocked by this light as a feather sentence. After quite some time, she still  did not know how to give a proper response. She merely felt that the man in front of her was really self-exclusive in nature. When she first met him before, she had been polite, because she did not want to offend him.

“She is my sister. We grew up together. Do you know how she got to her present state step by step?”

Jiang An Lan stared at his fingers. When he first washed the dishes, he had not put the right temperature , now his fingers were a little red and swollen. “I don’t know, but I can guarantee that she will have a good life in the future.”

Yao Xin Ran knew that he did not say this to her, or even to Yao Yuan.

When Yao Yuan came out, she saw her cousin go to the sofa to take a seat and turned on the TV. Jiang An Lan turned his head and smiled at her. “It’s taken care of?”

As a matter of fact, Yao Yuan’s hands were tied in this situation. “Why don’t you watch TV for now? I’m going to do laundry.”

Yao Xin Ran jumped up from the sofa. “OK, I’ll go, I’ll go. Please contact me when you have time.”

“Older sister,”

Yao Xin Ran stole a glance at Jiang An Lan and said, “Please remember what you said.” Then she patted Yao Yuan and spoke, “Need to go.”

Yao Xin Ran left in a hurry.

When the door was closed, the room became quiet until Jiang An Lan broke it by saying, “What are we going to do now?”

At noon, Jiang An Cheng presented two sets of clothings for his cousin.

When Jiang An Cheng handed the outfits to his younger cousin, he asked, “Take a look, is there anything else you need?”

“No, thank you.”

Jiang An Cheng responded, “What are you politeness between brothers?”

Jiang An Lan nodded his head. “I’m going up. Call me if you need anything.”
Well, I have something to do too.”
